Stephanie’s Bio

Stephanie is a bit more Dorothy-esque in her mannerisms, always a little further from home on the yellow-brick-road and usually with one or both of her smaller dogs in tow (or in basket).  That’s where the mannerisms end though…the rest of her is 100% Elphaba – an avid voice for the animals that takes zero BS and will take actions into her own hands. Although she is a native Washingtonian, she is an avid traveler, rarely without a list of destinations queued up on her flight app, and is now our Southern California boots-on-the-ground. She lives in San Diego with her Brittany-mix (Mika) who was a rescued street dog from Greece, and her terrier-mix (Nola) who is part cat, part psycho and part hairless street dog from Yakima. She also shares the house with her husband Matt, who is on the Board of Directors of Elphie’s and is our number one supporter and fan.  When she isn’t vetting and coordinating fosters and adopters, planning fundraisers and connecting with potential partner rescues, she is busy running a pretty kick-ass photography company where she does work from commercial/branding to wedding photography, as well as specializing with families who have children on the spectrum to help them get the best photos.  Steph is our resident small-medium dog expert with a soft spot for scruffy pups, bonus points for bearded doggos.  Her dream is to one day set up a myriad of spay and neuter programs available around the world for low income pet owners to help stop the “unwanted” pet over breeding that results in good pets being euthanized due to overpopulation.
